Siemens HealthineersSiemens Healthineers (NYSE:SI) said today it acquired Berlin-based point-of-care device interface and data management developer Conworx Technology for an undisclosed amount.

Siemens will pick up Conworx’s tech suite, including its UniPOC and POCcelerator, which Siemens said will complement its existing RAPIDComm data management system.

“As hospitals consolidate and acquire physician offices, there is a huge need by emerging healthcare networks for seamless integration of hundreds of decentralized devices that are spread across dozens of sites. It is clear to us that to satisfy our customers’ needs, we must deliver solutions that ensure superb connectivity, no matter which analyzer is being connected. We are determined to continue Conworx’s practice of working closely with every vendor to ensure that all connected analyzers are working to the best of their ability,” Siemens Healthineers point of care diagnostics prez Peter Koerte said in a prepared statement.

Conworx’s 75 employees will join Siemens Healthineers point of care informatics team, the company said, and will be led by current Conworx Tech CEO Roman Rosenkranz.

“By joining with Siemens Healthineers, we will get access to a global organization to even better support our joint customer base. Together we will be able to develop leading informatics products that help our customers to manage their growing point-of-care networks now and in the future,” Conworx Technology CEO Rosenkranz said in a press release.

In October, Siemens and IBM‘s (NYSE:IBM) Watson Health announced a 5-year population health management deal. IBM Watson Health’s deal with Siemens’ marks Siemens’ 1st foray into population health management, the companies said.

Through the deal, the companies aim to help healthcare professionals utilize big data in healthcare, manage an aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, as well as dealing with changing healthcare payment models and the digitization and consumerization of healthcare.
