3. Zimmer Biomet wins 510(k) for Unite3D foot & ankle device
Zimmer Biomet said it won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Unite3D bridge fixation system, which is designed for foot and ankle joint fusion surgery. The Warsaw, Ind.-based company said the Unite3D system is manufactured using 3D-printing technology, and features proprietary OsseoTi porous metal technology that mimics cancellous bone. Read more
2. NuVasive’s Q4 profits surge, Ellipse deal closes
NuVasive reported 4th-quarter and full-year results that topped expectations on Wall Street, posting a Q4 profit increase of nearly 54% and swinging to black ink for 2015. San Diego-based NuVasive put up profits of $11.5 million, or 22¢ per share, on sales of $215.3 million for the 3 months ended Dec. 31, 2015, representing a bottom-line gain of 53.9% on sales growth of 5.4% compared with Q4 2014. Adjusted to exclude 1-time items, earnings per share were 35¢, 4¢ ahead of The Street. Read more
1. Jury docks Johnson & Johnson $14m in pelvic mesh lawsuit
A jury in Philadelphia docked Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon $13.5 million in the 2nd case involving its pelvic mesh products to go to trial in a mass tort in The City of Brotherly Love, awarding plaintiff Sharon Carlino $3.5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages.
