German surgical adhesive company Adhesys Medical said today it inked a supply agreement deal with the Grünenthal Group which gives the group exclusive distribution rights for Ahesys’ topical skin adhesive within the European Union and Latin American markets.
The companies said they plan to partner to pursue appropriate clinical trials for the adhesive, which is designed for wound closure on the skin. The adhesive is polyurethane-based and designed for use in a variety of surgical procedures, the companies said.
“We are very pleased to announce the partnership with Adhesys Medical. With the innovative surgical glue, we will be able to offer surgeons and patients an alternative in the area of topical wound closure. Partnerships are very vital for Grünenthal’s success. The agreement with Adhesys Medical is another proof point for our successful approach to partnering: Transparent, long-term orientation, agility and creativity in deal-making as well as working together on eye-level,” Grünenthal Group chief scientific officer Klaus-Dieter Langner said in a press release.
“The commercialization of our 1st product will be a great step for us and we are excited to have a strong partner on our side,” Ahdesys Medical CEO Marius Rosenberg said in prepared remarks.
